I was born and grew up in Kumamoto. After graduating junior high school, I thought that information technology would gain importance in the future, so I decided to enter Kumamoto National College of Technology. I first heard about KKE when I was looking for a company in Kumamoto Prefecture where I could do a two-week summer internship, while I was still at college. I had already decided that I wanted to work for a company with a connection to Kumamoto, but I also wanted to broaden my horizons by getting involved in work in a different technical field, rather than just sticking to the field I had specialised in at college, so I decided to take part in the KKE internship.
After my internship, I could visualise how I would work at the company, and the fact that there were a wide range of technical fields to choose from within the company was very appealing. That's why I applied to KKE. In addition, the message I got from the person in charge of recruitment at the time was not “I really want you to join the company”, but “I want you to think about your own career first and foremost”, which was a student-oriented stance: that's what made me decide that I wanted to work with these people, in this company.
Aspiring to be a next-generation professional in Kumamoto
During my first two years at the company, I got to know many people and gained a lot of experience while working in Tokyo. In my third year, I gradually began to understand how to enjoy my work, and was transferred to Kumamoto. Life in Kumamoto, a place rich in nature, is not as tense as life in the city. Although it is not as convenient as Tokyo, I am satisfied with my work environment, where I can commute to work in my favourite car and work at my own pace while feeling the warmth of the local people.
I am currently working in the Information and Communications Group, and I try to do my best to become an ICT consultant who can provide solutions based on information technology to customers facing various issues. Recently, I have been involved in a project to build a heat and fluid simulation system on a cloud platform using open data from 3D city models provided by PLATEAU, working in collaboration with a department specialised in fluid dynamics. Until now, there was a hurdle in that only users with high-performance computers and specialist knowledge could use the system, but by building it on a cloud platform, we have created a system that anyone can use to easily perform simulations. I am currently in a phase where I am learning and absorbing a lot by working with professionals from various fields at KKE, but from now on I will focus on developing my own skills and abilities to become a next-generation professional.
To those who can enjoy their job
After joining the company, I have been involved in various projects with many customers, and I find it rewarding to be able to learn specialised and up-to-date knowledge related to industries. I am also increasingly being entrusted with leadership of medium-sized projects. In this context, I think that “who” you work with is just as important as “what” work you do. In conclusion, I feel that this is all about “people”. If you feel that you would like to work with KKE people, or if you can find joy in collaboration, whether within or outside the company, I would like you to consider joining us positively.
Finally, there are no easy tasks in our day-to-day work, and there are times when you can be busy and overwhelmed. I admire people who can enjoy such situations, so I want to continue to take initiatives and enjoy challenging myself, while remembering to keep on learning from each experience.
