Division of Global Social Sciences, Economics

During university, I took part in extracurricular activities related to “science communication”. Science communication is an initiative that aims to bridge the gap between science and society. It aims to encourage non-specialists to increase their understanding and interest in science, and to think about social issues together. I worked with my supervisor to hold workshops at the school festival, and I also learnt about science from experts myself, which allowed me to go beyond the boundaries of my university major.

When looking for a job, I wanted to work with a wide range of clients, and I found out about KKE while researching consulting companies. KKE was different from other companies in that it had a wide range of business fields and provided value to many different fields of society, and also in that it provided consulting based on highly specialised technology. I found similarities in KKE's approach of explaining technology in an easy-to-understand way to clients and the fact they were solving societal issues with science communication, so I joined the company as it matched my aspirations.

Effective marketing is the one that conveys technical information in an easy-to-understand way

I am currently working in the Cloud Business Department, and I am involved in marketing related to the email delivery service SendGrid. SendGrid is used globally for email delivery. As I mentioned earlier, I have always been interested in communicating technical information to customers in an easy-to-understand way, so I thought marketing would be a great challenge for me. So far, I have been in charge of web marketing, including website improvement, advertising management, seminar hosting and article writing. Recently, I have also had more opportunities to speak directly with customers at offline events.

E-mail has become an essential part of our daily lives, and is an important communication infrastructure. On the other hand, in recent years, measures against the rapid increase of spam e-mails have been strengthened; therefore, sending e-mails now requires strict adherence to rules and protocols. If you send an inappropriate mail and it gets reported as spam, or if you send it to a non-existent address, you will be judged as a spammer and your mails will eventually stop reaching their destination. In the future, AI-based e-mail filtering will become more advanced. I think that investigating the trends and developments in email systems and educating people about them is an important part of marketing.

For those who can think independently and decide what they want to do

As well as my own department, KKE is an open environment where you can propose all kinds of new ideas. If you are the kind of person who can think independently and decide what you want to do, rather than just following what other people tell you to do, then KKE is the place for you. I think it is also important to have a sense of curiosity and a spirit of exploration. And I think it is also important to have an open mind and be willing to learn new things. In marketing, I think it is also important to be able to visualise what kind of problems customers are having and how they are using our products.
