“Bridging” the technology and the society, that’s my vocation

At university, I majored in art history in the Faculty of Letters. I had always liked drawing, and when I entered university, I discovered that there was a study field that involved researching the history of paintings. I chose this major because I wanted to gain a new perspective on art. For my graduation thesis, I investigated the significance of “The Metamorphosis of Narcissus” by the Spanish painter Salvador Dalí, questioning the meaning of the motifs and the source of inspiration.

Finding a job related to art is difficult, and this inevitably narrows down your options. So, I decided to find a job that suited my personality, rather than focusing on my major. I first heard about KKE at a company information session at university. I had never been attracted to big companies, and I was looking for a company with a bottom-up atmosphere that offers freedom and autonomy. KKE had exactly the kind of corporate culture I was looking for. Of course, I had interviews with several companies, but from this perspective, KKE was the only one. The impression I had of the company at the time has not changed after I joined the company, and still the same now. It's all as it was.

I'm from a literary background, while KKE is a company specialised in technology. However, I was told that it's not just about deepening expertise, but also about reflecting on how technology could affect people and society. I was also made aware of the importance of bridging the gap between technology and society, and I thought that this would be my vocation.

To achieve depicting the connections between people behind technology, and its alchemy

My current job is mainly in public relations, and I am in charge of releasing information both to external and internal audiences. Specifically, I am in charge of managing the corporate website, writing news releases and articles, managing social networking services, publishing the company newsletter, and organising internal events. I am working to communicate KKE's initiatives in an easy-to-understand way, making use of my position as someone who is ‘not an expert’ in technology, while making full use of a variety of ways of expressing, such as planning, writing, editing or photographing.

At the moment, I am focusing particularly on creating articles for our in-house media. KKE has a lot of very unique technologies and businesses, and we haven't been able to introduce them all yet. When introducing technologies, I am conscious of not just the technology itself, but also of showing the people involved. My wish is to introduce people we work with from partner and client companies, aside from our members from KKE.

KKE is not just about simply selling existing products and services, and there is a whole culture about creating and nurturing new technologies that could come to light in the future. Everything starts from connections and the alchemy that occurs between people. There are many projects where we work with partners and customers on development of unprecedented technology, that may or may not succeed. I feel that through this kind of relationship, we share a lot of colorful experiences.

I get my article ideas from interviews with the sales members of the same floor. Still, I feel that I haven't yet been able to convey the exciting KKE's initiatives.

To those who like be hands-on, be active and like to think of their own

Thanks to the opportunities I have to work with other passionate staff from other departments who are also in charge of informating, I feel that I am able to continue to improve my skills and self through my work. What I try to keep in mind when working is to keep thinking, be active and to keep my hand-on. I look forward to working with someone who has that kind of motivation and is willing to try to express the hard-to-describe charm of KKE. I hope we can expand the possibilities of KKE together, in this place that connects technology to society.
